Nails used to hold up WW2 blackout curtains in the church

On the south wall of the church nave above each window

on either side is a large nail.  These are a remnant of the

WW2 requirement to black out any light after dark, so that

the position of the village could not be spotted by enemy

aircraft.  Black curtains or blinds would have been used.

If you look carefully in the centre of the adjacent picture

you will see one of the nails
